@brainblasted I have #nobot in my profile for a reason.
If I wanted bots following me I'd be on birdsite.
writes a bot that follows followbots. Once enough have followed it it just spams 🖕 all day.
welp, the followbots should have had #nobot in their profiles 🤷
PSA: you can stop follow bots by putting #nobot in your profile. Yes it's clumsy but it's just the way things is it seems.
@vantablack I imagine knowledge of the #nobot tag isn't universal
The absence of #nobot does not imply consent
@witchfynder_finder Was it FederationBot@crazynoisybizarre.town ?
If that's the case, I'm really sorry. I'm new with bots and I didn't know about the #nobot thing :/
I'll implement this check in my code soon, for now I stopped the bot
@federationbot @gled Hello! Please respect the #nobot tag by having the bot not follow people who have it in our profiles. Thank you!
Would the owner of @Ambassador please teach it about #nobot ?
cc: @Laurelai
@thegudtam try putting #nobot in your profile bio, most mastodon bots respect it
@Ambassador heads-up to your human: #nobot in my profile means you shouldn't be following me.
#nobot -- is this to do with bots following real users? I've been seeing it about and am not sure what it means
@odinsdream Well i get that its jarring. You can put #nobot in your profile and the bots wont follow you. However because of the way federation works between instances its really hard for new instances to get federated. That means either spending massive amounts of time or using a federation bot. Its kind of a shitty situation all around.
